Community health centers
Federally funded community health centers provide primary care, dental, mental health and pharmacy services to everyone, insured or not, with fees based on your income. Georgia has dozens of them with hundreds of sites. Use the official locator:
Other options
- Public health departments in every Georgia county offer immunizations, screenings and family planning: dph.georgia.gov.
- Free and charitable clinics: the Georgia Charitable Care Network lists them at charitablecarenetwork.com.
- Emergencies: call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Hospitals must treat emergencies regardless of insurance.
- Prescriptions: ask the health center about its pharmacy program; many fill prescriptions at reduced cost.
Coverage still matters
A clinic visit today does not cover a hospital stay next month. If you are uninsured, a licensed agent can check, at no cost, whether you qualify for Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids, or a Marketplace plan with a tax credit. Open enrollment runs November 1 to January 15; Medicaid and PeachCare enroll all year. We introduce you to one licensed agency and name it before you submit. Children in lower-income households often qualify for PeachCare even when the adults do not qualify for anything.
