Georgia Access vs HealthCare.gov

Since the 2025 plan year, Georgia residents enroll through Georgia Access instead of HealthCare.gov. Here is what that changes and what it doesn't.

What Georgia Access is

Georgia Access is the state-run health insurance marketplace, operated by the Georgia Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire. It replaced HealthCare.gov for Georgians starting with 2025 coverage. The website is GeorgiaAccess.gov and the call center is 1-888-687-1503.

What is the same

  • The plans. Insurers file the same Marketplace plans; metal tiers (bronze, silver, gold, platinum) work the same way.
  • The premium tax credit and cost-sharing reductions. Eligibility and amounts follow the same federal rules.
  • The dates. Open enrollment is November 1 to January 15, with December 15 as the deadline for January 1 coverage.
  • Agents and brokers. Licensed Georgia agents certify with Georgia Access and can enroll you at no cost to you.

What is different

  • Where you go. If you type HealthCare.gov with a Georgia ZIP code, it sends you to Georgia Access.
  • Who certifies agents. Agents working with Georgia residents complete Georgia Access training, not the federal Marketplace registration. That matters right now because new federal agent registrations are paused through early 2027, while Georgia Access certification continues.
  • Enhanced direct enrollment. Many agents enroll you through approved partner platforms connected to Georgia Access rather than on the state site itself. That is normal and allowed; the application still goes to Georgia Access.

How to tell an official site from a private one

Official sites end in .gov. Affordable Healthcare Center is a private company and this is a .com site. We are not affiliated with Georgia Access or any government agency. If someone tells you they are "from the Marketplace" or "from Georgia Access" and asks for payment, hang up and call 1-888-687-1503.
